        <p>The work presents the technique of fabrication of copper oxide CuO nanowhiskers, the results of study of heat treatment influence on CuO nanowhisker formation, the findings on the optimal annealing temperature for nanowhisker development, and the description of nanowhisker properties. The results of the analysis of the bending strength of CuO naowhiskers and a comparison with that of ZnO nanowhiskers are given.</p>
