Crack Generation in Nanomaterials at High-Strain-Rate and Quasistatic Regimes of Deformation

Abstract:
An overview of experimental data, computer simulations and theoretical models on crack generation in nanocrystalline materials at high-strain-rate and quasistatic deformation regimes is presented. The basic experimentally documented facts and results of computer simulations in this area are discussed. A special attention is paid to theoretical models describing processes of nanoscopic crack generation near microcrack tips and second-phase nanoinclusions in nanocrystalline materials at high-strain-rate and quasistatic deformation regimes.
