Shape memory deformation recovery features in Cu-Al-Ni single crystals


Shape memory recovery strain at reverse martensitic transformation has been investigated in Cu-13.6 wt.% Al-4.0 wt.% Ni alloy single crystals. It is found that the rate of recovery depends on previous SM deformation nonlinearly and can drastically increase with increasing SM deformation up to values close to full shape memory deformation (~7-9 %).
