        <p>The results of a comprehensive study of pipes metal to identify the causes of failure in the gas pipeline of the gas lift system of an oil and gas condensate field transporting gas with a high content of carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide are presented. The research program included visual assessment of the pipe surface, metallographic, mechanical, electrochemical tests, determination of the chemical composition of steel and deposits. According to the results of the studies, it was established that the destruction of the pipeline was the result of thinning of the pipeline wall along the upper generatrix with the subsequent appearance of a crack up to the through outlet to the outside. Gas pipelines subjected to corrosion along the upper generatrix require a systematic approach to prevent failures.</p>
